A mysterious force from a parallel universe wreaks havoc on a small town as a scientist fights to stop it from taking over the world!

finished. a pleasant game from Alawar, definitely worth playing.
most players will recognize the map style. a grid of TV shaped rectangles, like a Jeopardy game board. the game fooled me early on, i thought it was going to be short. if i'd thought to look at the map i would have known how very wrong i was. its a long game… no CE necessary. very little head scratching as to what goes where, what to do next. in casual mode, the hint system is of the variety that points you from scene to scene w/o penalty & can be quite specific once you're in the action scene. the HO scenes are standard issue, but some of them made my eyes bleed… dark & tiny items on occasion. hint in casual recharges quickly… & skip is rather fast as well. most puzzles are trivial, yet a couple were brain busters. (hint: i don't think this is a spoiler. late in the game, if asked for a password at a keyboard, don't pull your hair out wondering why you can't enter it. simply check your inventory. i think you can imagine why i felt compelled to mention it, lol)
technically clean. noteworthy are the ultra-fast scene transitions! & transporting via the map is instantaneous.
i won't be compelled to play it again, but i'm glad i did. have fun! …David.

Works fine on Win 7. Make sure your drivers are up to date. Did the game install ok ?
am running win xp and loaded just fine just wont play
Don't forget to update your Net framework, many people forget that. You can find updates on the site of microsoft. You can have an update scan for your system there also.
If that doesn't help, there should be a number in the window that's says "failed to initialize". You can google that and see what you can do about it.

sometimes a sound card will get redirected by another program… like if i were to play music while playing the game & then switch to the game sound, it may not be there. easy fix, restart PC.
update your sound card driver. hey, don't look at me in that tone of voice… believe it or not it may fix it. but depending on the age of your PC, don't be surprised if the latest update is not for you. for me, any update newer than 2004 kills my sound, so i don't bother anymore.
other than that, i got nuthin'. perhaps i've cast a spotlight on your issue. its not a BFG game… yet… so there's no forum to see if others are having a similar problem. Alawar's website doesn't address it, but its rather useless & wouldn't anyway. if you get it solved, let me know how, okay? …cricket.
ps. where's Layla when we need her? she's our tech support, repairs the drawbridge across the moat, that sort of thing. i'm merely the court jester.

hmm not sure I really liked this game, graphics are nice but way too many locations, back and forth…back and forth, the map could have been more helpful if it told you where things need to be done, also the music is just horrible ( sorry ) lol and with no background sound I got bored of it very quickly. Plenty of HOS…but there are better games out there, happy for everybody who enjoyed it, not for me though
Now I quite enjoyed this game, but I did split it and play it in 3-4 sessions so maybe that's why. I agree with Erin the music was terrible but then I don't like modern jazz – give me trad jazz any day. I didn't think that there was as much backtracking as in the Grim Tales game (or at least not as far to go back) and you weren't carrying too many inventory items for too long. I also liked the HOSs, they were cleverly and imaginatively done. I'm giving this one 8.5/10 (only being marked down because of the music) and I look forward to a sequel.
